International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium

In 2021 a joint initiative of Belgium and The Netherlands

IEEE’s International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS) conference leadership is closely monitoring the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and are taking the necessary steps to ensure your experience is safe, positive, and productive to meet your goals.

We continue to collaborate closely with the Square, Brussels as well as Local, Regional, and National public health officials as we plan for your participation. To be judicious towards our authors, we have chosen to design a fully immersive virtual conference program.

As we continue to monitor the situation, the event leadership may add an option for in-person participation. This decision will be made by May 28, 2021 and we will update the event website and notify our community so you may plan for your participation option in a timely manner.

Regardless of the conference format, with more than 2,300 accepted papers, IGARSS 2021 conference leadership has created an incredible program (https://igarss2021.com/glance.php) with global participation of the geoscience and remote sensing community.

We look forward to welcoming you to IGARSS 2021.

IGARSS 2021 in Brussels!

On behalf of the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society and the IGARSS 2021 Organizing Committee, we are pleased to invite you to the 41th annual IGARSS symposium, the first ever hybrid edition of IGARSS. We welcome you to join us physically in Brussels or virtually via our IGARSS 2021 virtual event platform. More information about this hybrid format can be found here.

The conference organisation is a joint effort of the Low Countries, the Netherlands and Belgium, with Crossing Borders as the overall theme of the conference.

Crossing Borders

  • Between Countries and Research Institutes
  • Between Types of Platforms (from satellites to drones)
  • Between Data Sources
  • Between Disciplines

Brussels is a vibrant, multicultural and multilingual city in the heart of Europe. Befitting its role as capital of the European Union, it sits at the crossroads of several nations and cultures. Although it is one of the most cosmopolitan cities worldwide, with residents from 184 countries, it retains a unique distinct culture of its own, steeped in 1000 years of history.

Whether you are into local gastronomy, pub life, art or architecture, Brussels offers it all in spades and temperate climate that makes it ideal to enjoy all year long.

Eager to explore beyond the city limits? Brussels is surrounded by a string of beautiful towns such as Bruges, Ghent and Antwerp. Due to its central location and ease of accessibility, it is only a short train ride away from major European hubs such as Paris, London, Amsterdam and Cologne.

Kind regards,
Joost VANDENABEELE and Ramon Hanssen
